Boots and Gloves

As the water temperature starts dropping many swimmers complain of cold hands and feet. This is not surprising as for skin swimmers especially, while in the water our blood surges to our core to protect our vital organs which leaves our extremities a little vulnerable. Many people also suffer with Raynaulds, which is a circulatory condition, that affects the fingers particularly. This can be incredibly painful and prevents people from enjoying the other health benefits of cold water swimming.

Enter the glove and boots! Now sexy they are not, but its a small price to pay for warm fingers and toes! Our team really love Orca’s new range and the main reason being they are an excellent fit and made of high quality neoprene. Plus the gloves come in 2mm and 3mm, the latter is a game changer for when the temps drop sub 5 degrees. The gloves are a bit longer than many other neoprene gloves and are a good fit round the wrist which means less drag and the same goes for the boots. Plus the thermal material really does its job. The boots and gloves fit nicely under your wetsuit, if wearing one. Please note the womens’ glove sizes do come up very small so go a size up. Regarding boots you want these as tight as possible so they don’t fill with water. A size 6UK is a small.

There is also a good range of all kinds of gloves and boots of various thicknesses on Tri Wet Suit hire and if you put in OPENMINDS10 -at the checkout page you will get 10% off any order.

Give them a go and let us know how you get on!
