Sessional swim teachers needed!

Job Title: Sessional Swim Teacher
Organisation: Open Minds Active
Location: Hengrove Swimming Pool - Mondays 10-11am and Jubilee Swimming Pool, Knowle - Fridays 1-2pm
Salary: £25 per hour
Hours: Term time only

Role Overview:
We are looking for enthusiastic and committed Sessional Swim Teachers to deliver high-quality swimming lessons for adult global majority women, following the Swim England Learn to Swim framework. This role involves planning, delivering, and evaluating lessons while ensuring a safe and enjoyable environment for all participants.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging swimming lessons tailored to different abilities, from beginners to advanced swimmers.

  • Maintain a vigilant approach to safety and supervision, ensuring adherence to health and safety guidelines.

  • Track and assess participant progress, providing constructive feedback and adapting lessons to meet individual needs.

  • Manage and prepare equipment for lessons, ensuring resources are in good condition.

  • Create an inclusive atmosphere that encourages participation from all individuals, regardless of background or ability.

  • Liaise with the Community Engagement Manager to ensure smooth programme operations.

  • Uphold punctuality by arriving early to prepare for sessions and staying after to provide feedback and address queries.

  • Commit to professional development by attending training sessions to maintain Swim England qualifications.

  • Promote safeguarding by creating a safe, supportive environment and reporting concerns in line with policies.

Qualifications & Experience:

Essential:

  • Swim England Level 2 Swimming Teacher qualification (or equivalent).

  • National Rescue Award for Swimming Teachers and Coaches (NRSTC) or National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ).

  • Familiarity with the Swim England Adult Learn to Swim framework.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Desirable:

  • Experience teaching adults.

  • Experience working with individuals with additional needs.

  • First Aid qualification.
